Abstracts will be selected for presentation in the RO Ball Young Scientist Award Competition from those submitted for poster presentation. Abstracts will be accepted for consideration for the Young Scientist Award if they are reporting work done by undergraduate or graduate students that is relevant to the Canadian swine industry.
A scientific committee will select abstracts representing the most interesting and best science from those submitted. The four students whose abstracts are selected will be invited to give a live presentation of their work on January 8, 2025 during the Banff Pork Seminar. The selection will be made before the proceedings go to print and the papers chosen for competition will be listed in the proceedings.
The student with the best overall combination of strong and relevant science, a well-written abstract and excellent presentation will receive a cash prize of $500. The second place winner will receive $250. Judging will be done by a committee of researchers and industry personnel.
Please complete the attached Banff Pork Seminar RO Ball Entry Form and send with your abstract to pork@ualberta.ca.
